Slapton Village History trail, WWII exercises and evacuations

A walk around the picture perfect village of Slapton and National Nature Reserve discovering its unusual history, including WWII evacuation, and why there’s a tank in our car park! Particularly suitable for families, children will learn how to follow a trail with a simple map and photographs.

Cost: Adult £3, Child £1.50.

Travel + Parking

Travel Directions: Please note the Start Bay Centre is not the Field Studies Centre in the village. It is the Old School building at the top of the hill just beyond the village.  From Totnes take the A381 to Kingsbridge through Halwell. Continue past the BP petrol station on left, and carry approx ¼ mile until the left-hand turning sign posted to Slapton and East Allington. Take this lane, after 4 miles the Centre is on the left at Lower Green Cross.
From Plymouth/Kingsbridge take the A379 leading to the A381 to Totnes near Churchstow.  Continue on this road through The Mounts and take the right hand turn sign posted Slapton and East Allington. Take this lane, after 4 miles the Centre is on the left at Lower Green Cross.
Public Transport: Not available.
Parking: Start Bay Centre.
