See one of Devon’s most southerly points through the eyes of Geoffrey Newman landowner and experienced walk leader. Enjoy panoramic sea views, spotting birds, seals and other wildlife, and then experience a private tour of the operational Start Point Lighthouse, built in 1836 and still manned until 1993.

Price includes Lighthouse entrance fee.

Distance / terrain: Approx 2 ½ miles. Rugged coast path, surfaced path and steps.
Grade: Moderate, but strenuous in parts.
Date: Saturday 10th Oct 2009
Timing: Start 10.30am, return approx 12.30pm.
Leader: Geoffrey and Mary Newman.

Meet at: Start Point car park.

Bring: Binoculars if you have them, a drink and snack, please note this is an exposed location so dress appropriately.
Restrictions: NO DOGS. Children to be at least 1 meter tall (both due to lighthouse visit).

Travel + Parking

Travel Directions: From Stokenham (on the Kingsbridge to Dartmouth A379) follow signs for Start Point, you will get to a point where you can see two large masts and the track passes between two gate posts continue to the end of the road where you will find the car park.
Public Transport: Not available.
Parking: Start Point car park.
Parking fee: Free upon production of walk ticket.
